Police investigating Pinellas Park homicide

PINELLAS PARK – A man is in custody after a Pinellas County homicide and SWAT standoff Saturday morning.

Police say 36-year-old Belinda Joyce Thomas and her live-on boyfriend, 48-year-old Luis Antonio Santiago were involved in a domestic dispute in the 8400 block of 60th Street North in Pinellas Park just before 2am.

Police say Thomas fled the residence on foot and Santiago gave chase in a 2004 Dodge sedan. Police say Santiago intentionally struck Thomas at the corner of 60th Street North and 82nd Terrace North, where she was pronounced deceased.

Santiago fled to the area of 4600 block of 83rd Avenue North and was arrested just after 6am by SWAT members. He was taken to a local hospital after suffering self-inflicted injuries from a knife.

Police have not released further information regarding the investigation.
